Country Primitives Carvings of Fredericksburg, Darrell Aldag

Country Folk Art, Primitive, Hand Carvings Hand carved items from old, storm downed trees by a local, 75-year-old carver. Mostly Poplar, Beech, Oak, Cedar wood or any other wood that falls to the ground. Carved items include Wood Spirits, Ducks, Walking Sticks, Coaster sets, Birdhouses, or anything else that looks fun to carve.

Duck heads are carved from various pieces of scrap wood including cherry. Some heads were obtained from a professional carver who used bass wood. No two carvings are the same. Size ranges from 6” to 18+” long and price varies (from $20 to just over $100 for the larger work) according to the size, wood, finish and detail.

Various finishes include: boiled linseed oil, stain, shellac, polyurethane, or lacquer. Designed as an indoor decorative piece. Not intended to be exposed to the weather. Perfect for a covered porch, family room or fireplace accent The wood may split, and bark may peel only to enhance the character.
