Mixed media, wall-mounted sculptures - My work is composed of native hardwood species and textured metals mounted on painted canvases and artists’ panels. Designs may additionally incorporate exotic woods, hand-painted papers, leather, fibers, porcelain, and stucco. Reflecting the importance of sustainability and economy, many of the component pieces of my work are made from scrap materials retrieved from other makers.

 

The resulting designs highlight the materials as the stars of each creation, but also feature color, texture, and composition in supporting roles. My fascination with the natural and man-made worlds, especially historical and cultural art forms, provides inspiration for design concepts.
